hi,
i hope i understand your question correctly.
as far as i know, it's impossible to unite a couple of paths into one path (assuming you use more colors or styles than one). if you have several paths with the same color, you can try to use the add to shape area command, under the pathfinder tab. the problem is, illustrator can't apply 2 different styles to a single path.
you can try grouping them.
