I have a workbook that uses named ranges for data validation in drop down lists. For example "table1" (named range) has item 1, item 2 and item 3. this table is referenced to a drop down list in sheet 1cell a9 for example. this table is also referenced in cell a9 on sheet2 in the workbook. The question I have is-Can I select Item 1 in the sheet1 and make item 1 unavailable ins Sheet2 Cell A9 leaving Item 2 and Item 3 selectable? and vice versa for othe sheets as well?

hi,

You must remove the item from the list source for other controls. I'd use MS Query to generate subsequent lists using a dynamic exclusion IN statement,

Thanks I have started to look into this but MS Query this is completely new territory for me.

How is you list data organized?

How are you using your dropdown selections?

I am currently using data validation and allowing a list from a named range.

Then just delete the ROW from the named range.
