I have a small trader desk situation, where they want Privacy Release to be the default, so others can jump on a call without the initial called party having to do anything. Got this working by changing the COS for Privacy Release = Yes.

But they also want the ability for a called party to make a call private. So that others cannot jump on the call. Ideally when a call has been established, a soft key for "Privacy" would appear.

I saw an old thread from 2008 on this topic: "If Privacy "on" is the default, then a privacy release toggle button can be on the Turret. If privacy "off" is the default (common in a trading environment), then it cannot be turned off (i.e. no toggle button to turn it "on"). This is a Mitel oddity. NOTE: There is a Flash demo of the Turret floating around somewhere that shows a privacy enable button, but this is likely incorrect."

This was in reference to 5560, we are using 5340 if that is significant.

Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to deliver the user experience that is requested?

Thanks, John

First off, great details.

The Privacy Release button works like a toggle. First time pressed, privacy is released, when pressed again, privacy is restored. That being said, it goes on to say The "Privacy Release" COS option must be disabled for the station using this method of privacy release.

What I might try fiddling with is some of the conditions whereby privacy release does not work. e.g.

The feature cannot be selected when:
- any user in the call has another call on consultation hold,
- one of the parties in the call is an attendant or a non-busy extension,
- the set is in display, select features or add held mode

One thought is to enable record-a-call. User would select record a call and this would create a self contained conference that cannot be intruded upon. Delete the recording afterwards.

Thank you. Great info as usual.

Record-a-call worked very well. As there is an option to stop recording and delete during the call, this could be done just before the end of the call, to avoid the need to erase it from their voice mail box.

However, in my customer's situation, each of the traders has 2 non-prime numbers in addition to their prime number, and it seems that the recorda-a-call feature does not work on the non-prime numbers.

Have I missed something?

Thanks, John

No, i think you'll have to choose which devil you live with.
