I manage an Avaya S-8500 Media Gateway, with a fairly standard config. How do I make or find how out to make International calls?

Thanks,

Set up international dialing in an ARS route pattern (cha ars ana).

Create a COR with the correct FRL level to access the new ARS route pattern.

Assigned the International Dialing COR to the agents or stations that need international calling.

Do you want examples?

I inherited this switch about a year ago, and am still trying to get things figured out. I was left with zero documentation.

I know that the switch has already been setup to be able to make International calls, and I am fairly certain that the user asking has made international calls before. I assume the route pattern and COR have already been created. I've looked at the user's extension, and he has the same COR that most users have.

How do I go about figuring this out from here?

Thanks in advance.

Use the command "list cor"; hopefully the ones that are set up for international dialing are labeled as such. That's half the battle.

Do you have agents? An agent COR settings will override the station COR.

Are you sure that the number they are dialing is correct? I have had individuals complain that they weren't being allowed to complete an international call, but the problem was that they had an invalid or incomplete phone number. I have a handful of international test phone numbers that I can share with you, if you like.

Have the user try his international call while you are running the "list trace station XXXX" command, and see what the error message is.

I have only one COR with a label and it just says normal. I do not have agents.

I don't have experience with International phone numbers, so I can't speak to the number being correct. Maybe I can use one of the test numbers and see what happens when I try?

Thanks for your help so far.

Assuming that you are in the US: Try doing 'list ars analysis' and look for an entry 011. That should point you to either a Partition Table (px) or a Route Pattern.

I find entry 011 and it has a Route Pattern of 1.

Look at Route Pattern 1. The 2nd column will show you the minimum COR required to place a call. If you put a trace up on your station (list trace station [extension]) and try placing a call you can post the results of the trace here.

Kevin

The FRL level of the COR needs to be equal to or greater than the FRL of the route pattern.

I use the following number for testing international dialing: 011-61-8-9474-3551. This is a 24-hour recorded info line for the Perth Zoo in Australia.
