Hi we have a helpdesk extension at work and I would like to install a cordless analogue phone and have both ringing from this 1 extension number.
so here is the current setup
customer rings ext 890 and the current phone rings
what I would like is
customer ring current helpdesk ext rings plus the analogue (which is already has an extension
To achieve this I
• Created a new extension and mapped the current Helpdesk number to that (say ext 838)
• Created a new virtual extension on the old number 890
• Mapped the new ext 838 message lamp to 890
• Create a second coverage group with new extension and analogue number is it and the other staff members ext in it
• Created a cover path that would point to the first answer coverage group
This seemed to work but the problem I had was that the helpdesk operators message lamp does not light up if someone leaves a message. I know that the message is being left on the voice message mailbox 890 and I thought by mapping the message lamp of ext 838 to 890 this would have solved this issue.
I wondering now should I have set up a VDN?
