A while back I posted about an issue with handsets losing their base extensions, possibly due to delays re-registering to secondary server which resulted in us disabling the secondary server for good.

Since then we have been having problems with another SE installation, where huntgroups would no longer be visible, users disappearing and again handsets losing base numbers. The advice in this case was to upgrade from 9.1.7 to 9.1.10 which we attempted tonight, however the upgrade failed part way through and we now found ourselves in a position where web manager will no longer start (clicking start does nothing) unable to access the config as it gives an error stating the server may be offline or on a version earlier thsn 3.2 and unable to get into aecurity settings.

Not being able to get into web manager means we can't downgrade/upgrade so not sure what to do?? The phones appear to be working, along with voicemail but the system is clearly not happy. Can it be saved??

Have we been unlucky with the server edition installs we have done or is it a very unstable product? I'm starting to think our distributors have been told by Avaya to say it is the first time they have seen such issues....

Nope, this is currently with Avaya T4 and being put down to a bug, but they are seriously dragging their heels..

Any help gratefully received!!

Are you getting an error when you try to copy the files?

We struggled to copy because the file we were trying to write to was owned by root and you don't seem to be able to log in as root using winscp. So we ended up writing the file elsewhere on the drive to somewhere ot owned by root and then moving it and changing the owner with chown.

sorry "folder we were trying to write to" not file.

I started copying the whole wavs directory but it was ridiculously slow, been meaning to go back and just copy the relevant country specific files but not sure which to copy.

I believe I was only able to log in as Administrator so I'll keep your tip in mind when I look at it again thanks

Giving up waiting for Avaya to come back with a fix and am going to rebuild the primary server from scratch. Waiting for the pesky customer to get off the phone; should the SIP calls reain in progress when the handsets fail over to the secondary server?

Also, will voicemail pro call flows etc need to be restored once the primary server has been rebuilt or will it take its config back from the secondary? Will the handsets even switch back to the primary once it is recreated with a backup copy of the config?

I assume the system ID won't change as a result of rebuilding the primary and licenses will be ok?

Thanks!

Primary server rebuilt whilst handsets failed over to secondary. Once primary rebuilt handsets returned to primary and kept their base numbers.

Voicemail working correctly following the rebuild.

The only issue i'm getting now is an error when opening config regarding http access 401 unauthorized, which I didn't get before, but it isn't causing any problems at present
