I have illustrator cs2, and right off the bat i had problems with my dell laser drive conflicting with illustrator startup. Now once I turn my computer on and open illustrator it pops up with "Cannot complete the requested operation" about 2 or 3 times and then it will open. That is problem #1, and now I cannot save AI, it will only let me save PDF and EPS and export to a raster. I need help seriously so if anyone has any ideas please help, I have a dell with windows xp pro operating system.
Thanks a lot, digitalshep

First try trashing preferences - called "aiprefs" on a pc. If that doesn't work consider reinstalling AI with anti virus software disabled.

Sometimes AI gets screwed up on install if you have anti virus software running. Other apps can also be effected but AI seems teh most vulnerable.

You might try uninstalling AI, including trashing the "aiprefs" file (search for it on your machine and trash it manually as uninstall does not remove this file)

Then turn of any antivirus and reinstall AI.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

In addition to what Jim suggested, CS2 tends to be resource hungry, with Live Paint, Live Trace, advanced text engine, etc. One commonly noted culprit is the font stack in your system font directory. Try paring back the number of fonts on the start-up with a font manager, which you can turn on or off the desired fonts, at will.

Do you know where i can get a font manager that does that? Thanks, digitalshep
