Hello all. So we have been having some serious issues with our POS/server lately and its gotten to the point where we can't work anymore.

Today I had to set up the terminal as the file server to get through the day. It would not connect to the server no matter what I tried. I reset all my equipment (modem, router, ethernet switch, and server) and still couldn't get a connection. I'm running Windows XP and it shows 2 network connections running. LAC 1 is connected to the ethernet port on the PC and LAC 2 is connected USB to the modem. Neither of these seem to be working as A) I can't get the terminal to connect and B) I can't connect to the internet from my server.

Any suggestions? If I haven't given enough information, please let me know. I really would like to take care of this.

Aloha aside,

Does the network connection show connected in network porperties?
If so, can you you navigate the server's hard drive from the terminal? If so, can you edit and delete files? This will check and verify the network permissions quickly, and then you can determine if it is Aloha or Windows.

Thanks for the reply. The only way I have ever been able to use the terminal outside of aloha is by logging in from my server and using the windows key to get out of aloha. Is there another way I can get into the terminal?

From your server, click Start then Run, type \\Term1 or whatever the name of the terminal is. You are then exploring the Terminals harddrive. What you can access and change, depends on sharing and permission settings on the terminal.

Please reply if you aren't able to do this or are promted for a password.

Well, this problem went away. Someone punched our terminal and now its cracked... So I guess my new question is, can these be repaired or do we need a new terminal?

Get a new one. yes they can be repaired, most likely you can find one on ebay or craigslist for less then the replacement part.

Touchwindow.com sells touchglass that can replace many of the oem displays (If it is only the touchglass that is broken) The 12.1" that fits javelin vipers is easy to replace and costs about $105
