Maintenance Plans in SQL 2000

Hello,

I inheirited a SQL 2000 box @ my new job and I noticed that there are several maintenance plans all setup to do the same thing (backup the database) but all at different times.

Frankly, I'd like to remove these backups since all of our SQL databases are being backed up by BackupExec, but I don't know very much about SQL beyond basic administration and I cannot seem to figure out how to remove these entries...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

Is backup exec doing a SQL backup or just backing up the .bak files produced by a SQL backup? My experience is that the Backup Exec SQL back up is extremely slow which is why many places backup to disk and then rip it to tape.

As of now, the answer is both. Hence why I'd like to consolidate a bit.

BE is doing the SQL backup as well as baking up the .bak files that the maintenance plans are creating. I don't mind letting the maintenance plans do the backup but in any event I would like to clear out the redundant plans.
