Hi

A colleague and I have two separate Outlook installations, but we want to keep our Contacts database in sync. Further, we both want to be able to add/delete/modify records in our Contacts databases, then periodically use these changes to update the other's Contacts database.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The only way I can think of doing this is to export your contacs each time you add a new person, and import them into the other persons Outlook - it's a long way around, but it works.

Thanks for the reply! Hm. I don't know Outlook/Exchange Server, but I'm ASSuming that part of the contact record includes a date changed field. Is that true? If so, maybe I could figure out how to export just the changed records . . . .

Thanks!

Hi again. My suggestion referred to the contacts in your personal file. To get that out go to file, import and export, select export to a file. Select pst format, and conatcs folder. Then export that to an easy to get to area - maybe desktop. Copy that to the other pc. Then go file, import and export, select that file and then import to the contacts in the pc. Make sure you select replace existing or you will end up with two of all common contacts. Good luck.

Doug

Can consider to synchronize the outlook PST files on two PCs by using FolderMatch or "Super Flexible File Synchronizer". both can be downloaded from download.com. Of course you shouldn't update the PST file on multiple PCs at the same time.

I found that the Contacts database has a 'Modified' field, that seem to track when the records are added or changed. I'm planning to select records using that field, and then export those from one Outlook environment, then import them to the other Outlook environment. See any flaws in that? Is doing an export easy?

Thanks!

If you add a second Contacts folder to each Outlook and move all your contacts to that new folder then any new contacts which automatically go to your default Contacts folder will be easily identified and exported.
