I have a VS-rel. 5 partner system; I can not change main AA greeting or announcement.
I have followed all the procedures in the manual. I have recorded the new message and saved it; I have listened to the new recording and have accepted it. However when calling into this business; the greeting has not changed. Is this a config problem or a hardware problem?
Thanks

you are probably having lines assigned to auto attendant in the VS R5
check the AA number 2-4 to see which one has the greeting you want or simply assign all lines to AA1 in the programming

Yes there are two AA the first AA answers line 1-3
And the second answers 4-5, I have tired to change both AA-1 and AA-2 with no luck.
Do I have to unassign these lines to make chances?

In AA's 2-4, select option 6 for line assignment, then review them. Any line NOT assigned to one of these will be answered by AA-1.

Yes I understand that, however would this assigned lines affect, making or changing main greetings-anouncements.

no it would not but it would affect which Auto Attendant picks up ergo which greeting actually plays

I bet you are recording the greeting in the wrong spot. It's easy to do as the PMVS isn't the most intuitive for programming. Once logged in as administrator:

Press 3 for Auto-attendants

Press 1 for Auto-Attendant 1 or 2 for AA2

Press 1 for the Day Message (2 at this point to change the Night Message)

Press 6 to modify the menu

Press *# (star pound) when prompted for a selector code between 1 and 9- This is where most accidents happen! The tendancy is for people to enter 1 here, but that's incorrect

Press 1 to record a new message

Press 1 when finished recording the message

Press 21 to re-record the message, 23 to listen to the recording, or *# to save the message

This is the exactly the way I have been doing it.
You could not have explained it any better.
I just can't figure out why it's not taking affect.
Once I have performed it as you have pointed this out,
I'll call in from outside and it has not changed.
I installed these VS about 6 months ago, created the initial recordings and all was well.
Just can’t change it

What we are all saying is perhaps you are changing Auto Attendant No. 1, but the lines are assigned to AA No. 2, 3, or 4 instead.

It is also possible that the lines are assigned to VMS Line Ownership, or Call Coverage and that a mailbox instead of an auto attendant is answering.

Check you settings in #206 and #208, and again check the line assignments in the auto attendants.

Go in through the admin and listen to AA1 and AA2 greetings (versus modifying them) and see if you hear your new greeting or the old greeting. This will tell you if the system has saved the new ones (and the lines are being answered elsewhere) or if the old ones are still active here (and they either weren't recorded properly or there is an issue with the hard drive).
