Thanks in advance for an answer,

I've searched far and wide. I found my question in another forum, but no response.

I also found a discussion by a programming group as to if they would be including this functionality in the near future, but again, not a resolution.

<A HREF=mailto:mail@mail.org?body="Here I'd like to put a variable, instead
of a fixed text"

You'll have to write it dynamically. See you can leave the href empty - but I think a name is needed, then just write it in at some later date.

It seems that trying to set it to a variable like:

< href="javascript:someVariable"...>

only succeeds in printing the contents of the variable to the document. SO obviously there is some other interpretation that goes on with a link.

What you will have to do is onClick of the link - call a function which writes the stuff you want in there. But I guess that's not really what you mean huh!

bangers,

Thank you for the response (sure glad I included the email notification:)).

I found some coding at that I may be able to modify to suit my needs (don't know yet (probably not tonite :))) from another thread here.

I emailed the above address to the individual I found that had the same question:

<A HREF=mailto:mail@mail.org?body="Here I'd like to put a variable, instead of a fixed text"

and of course asked him to let me know if he ever found a simple answer, but obviously his inquiry was a long time ago.

Anyway, I'll check into that and what you're saying probably tomorrow. The searching and asking has worn me out ;-) (although I'm not down and out yet, I'll probably just be reading the link I referred to and checking for more info here).

Thanks again,

bangers,

btw, i'm actually trying to do this with aim (aol instant messenger), but i figure it should be the same concept.

please let me know if you know why i would be wrong in that assumption.
