Hi

I used to have my Outlook set up so that I had 2 different email addresses to choose from. Now both of those emails/accounts are redundant and I have a new pop3 email address set up. When I click to compose a new email it all works fine, however, if I click a hyperlinked/mailto email link (ie underlined in blue) in another email I have received, instead of opening my new email to compose the email, it actually opens my old style email, including my old signature and my old 2 email addresses to choose to send it from.

I've checked the email accounts and the old accounts don't exist any more, so I don't understand how the old email format is still being opened.

Any clues?

Thanks

You might need to remove your old signature as it is probably this that is telling it how to format the mail.

When you click the hyperlink in the mail it effectively treats it as a 'reply', so consequently, if you have a signature setup for replies it will use the format of this for the 'reply' mail it thinks you are sending.

Control Panel -> Mail -> "Show Profiles" and set the "Always use this profile" to the one you want to use

Thanks for the options, but I'm afraid neither worked.

Aich69 - The signatures listed are only for my current email address.

ChrisHirst - In the Profiles there is only the default Outlook one.

Re the question from 58sniper, the current account with the correct email receives the email with the link, then when that link is clicked on, it opens an email from an outlook account that no longer exists on the system.

So no idea what is going on...

Any more help would be appreciated

Then in the profile set your NEW email to be the default account to send from

Accounts -> select the right one -> Set as Default

Yep, that is already the case - the old email addresses aren't even listed in the accounts bit. That's why it's so weird. Normal composing, sending, replying and forwarding works fine - it's only when you click an email link within an email that has been sent that the old email somehow pops up.

Sounds like a registry problem.

I've had similar problems with "ghost" accounts when Outlook is connecting to an Exchange server, and the solution (short of reinstalling) was to delete all the user profiles and accounts and recreate them.
