MailMerge with Excel date display incorrect 1

Office XP-Pro) We are using a Excel spreadsheet for mail merge in MSWord. I have the regional settings (date-long and short) on the pc as dd/mm/yyyy and the date as displayed in the Excel document match that date format(dd/mm/yyyy) BUT As soon as I do a mail merge with MSWord it swap the month and day over like mm/dd/yyyy. I can't get the date to be displayed in the right format in MSWord. Anyone a idea where I might look. Thanks You don't need eyes to see just a vision.
