Paul,

First of all, does your Web host support CGI scripts? Some don't allow them, so that might be your problem.

Assuming that the answer to the above is "yes", did you open permissions on the .cgi file? It requires connecting to your server through a Telnet program and typing in a simple Unix command. (I'm assuming you're on a Unix server.)

hi again ,according to the web provider ( ) for some reason it seems not possible to put scripts on the directory
because i am relatively new in this paricular area ,but eager to learn ,i will be trying out some new sites where it might be possible ,in the meantime i found the script in the dreamweaver program ,in the tecniques folder
it still leaves me with some questions .
according to the instructions :
before you up load the mailform cgi ,you need to change the permission on mailform cgi from read/write to read/write/execute.
how do i change that ,what do they mean by that ??

the proper term is called chmod I think. You are supposed to be able to set these things in Dreamweaver but I have yet to get it to work correctly.

The best thing to do is obtain a ftp program like WS_FTP
and it has options that will allow you to set the CHMOD.

Some servers allow you to set the CHMOD online. It all depends on your web host.

What are you using presently to upload your files? Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

hi jeff
in the meantime i found an alternative ,and downloaded a template form at it seems possible to use a script that is on a other server
will try it out soon .
might see you later
