We have a user who when using Outlook to send emails, occasionally sends it to the wrong person because the user types the last name only. When the box pops up stating there is more than person with that last name, the user simply hits return without looking and places the first person listed as the reciepient. Unfortunately, he has inadvertantly sent confidential material to a person that shouldn't have gotten it. Is there a way to verify (are you sure you want to send this to sjones?) or does anyone have any suggestions?

Educate the user?

Slap the user?

Tool services, check the addressing lists. Ensure that the person who should receive the email is on the topmost list and the other one is on the lower list.

If need be, create a new contact list and put the relevant person into it and put that contact list at the top. This will cure your problem.

I agree with Zelandakh - Computers we can fix, but people..?? How about setting up this recipient with an easy and obvious alias in exchange and then tell the user to type in the alias rather than the recipients name in the address bar....

Then have the alias tattooed backwards on the users forehead, and put a mirror on top of their monitor.

Outlook 98 (not sure abut Outlook 2000) has a 'nicknames' feature.

-In your problem users email, type the surname of the person he wants to send mail to and tab to the next field.
-The surname should become underlined in red (indicating more than one person in the GAL with that name).
-Right click on the name and select the required recipient.
-If you use Outlook, this will now be remembered as the 'default' user when this surname is typed and will automatically display in full when you tab away (underlined in green to again indicate that there are others that match the criteria, but supposing that this is the one you most likely want)

Anyway, just a suggestion - hope it helps

Good luck
