Mailbox Manager Error Reseting Multiple PW's 1

I'm pretty new to the telecomm thing as my background is on the network side so I apologize if my jargon is not right on.

I work on a school campus and I'm trying to reset our VM PW's in the dorms before all our students return. We had a routine that did it (setup by a person no longer here) but the box crashed and was rebuilt not to long ago and we lost that. I've done some research and here's the process I'm following to reset multiple phone passwords;

1) Open Mailbox Manager
2) Goto Enterprise Systems
3) Double click Subscribers
4) Got to Edit, Filter
5) Select "COS number of Class of service"
6) Enter 0 as my value which for us is student dorms and add to search criteria and click Filter
7) Go to Edit, Select All
8) Right click and select Multiple Modify
9) Check the Password box and enter the new password and click Save

After I do that I get the following validation error:

"The limit of 1100 for maximum number of Subscribers has been reached. No additional Subscribers can be created at this time".

Doesn't work if I try a Multiple Modify on all of them or 2, same error. We just had our VM license count increased from 1100 to 1150, is it not seeing that on the MAS box? I would think it wouldn't matter because I'm only trying to reset passwords for existing accounts. Am I doing this wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

It sounds like you have not done a get config on the system after the license file was updated. If you look on the MAS under license does it have the new number of users 1150? If it does then I would do a get config from MBM and see it it will do it. Also look in the Mailbox manager system parameters to see if the number of users is right. Right click on the system name and click modify then view system parameters and look for the maximum number of users and make sure it is 1150. IF not try doing the get config and if all else fails check with unimax.

I think that you may want to delete the mailboxes and rebuild them rather than just change the password as you will not force them to record a name and the old name can still be in use. Just a thought

If you do delete them you can do a multiple add from parm or from a file. but do not add them back in for 10 mins or so.

Ken,

Thanks for your response. I just looked and you're right about the Max # of subscribers under System Parameters...it's set at 1100. I did a little testing earlier this morning and deleted a few vm accounts to get below the 1100 mark and it worked fine so I figured it was some kind of licensing config issue. When I did this I logged into one of the vm accounts to test and the pw had been changed. At that same time I realized the point you made about completely reseting the boxes. What's the easiest process to reset (496) vm boxes back to default\factory settings? Do I have to delete and recreate all of them...I would think there is a way to do this without deleting them. Again I'm pretty green on the telecomm thing so I really appreciate the help.

Thanks!!!

Jeff

The best way is to remove them and add them back in. If you just change the password then all other setting that were in the MB stay the same. Like name and personal greeting and any optional greetings or notify settings. It is pretty easy to do in MBM with a multi add from parms or file.

Have you run a get config yet?

Ken,

Great call on the Get Configuration. After running that the the Max Subscribers is now 1150. Thanks!

Now this other part regarding reseting the MB's. I have around 500 that need to be reset...you say deleting and recreating is easiest? Is there some documentation out there somewhere? Unfortunately I'm not familiar with doing a multi add. Sorry for all the newb questions I'm just trying to get a grasp on this stuff. I got thrown in the middle of it...

Thanks again,

Jeff

I'm reading over the Help stuff right now...not tooooo bad. :)

to do the add you need a template and you do that by adding a mb and saving it as a template. Then use the template to do a multi add with parmameters or from a text file. The first time is always a pain but it will get easy

I'll give this a go and let you know how it works out. Thanks a ton Ken.
