Mailbox does not shows in the Nw.Exchange Module window

Hello,

Fact:
Networker Backup server: 7.4.3 x32

Exchange server:
OS: Windows 2003 x64 SP2
MS Exchange Server 2007 x64
Networker user 7.3.4 x64
Networker exchange module 5.1 x64


We are implementing a new exchange server which need to be included in the Networker backup. So far, I've created 3 instances of the Exchange client (MSEXCH:, MSEXCH:MB and ALL as savesets )and include each in a different group. All 3 groups works successfully when executed except that the mailboxes backup run very slow and long.


The problem:
When the Networker exchange module GUI interface is open to do one specific mailbox backup, we don't see any mailboxes listed. But if I mark and run a backup of the folder "private mailbox" I can see the backup executing for all the mailboxes.
Also good to know that I can see and recover mailboxe from the nw exchange module with no problems.

Can someone please help me with this.

Possibly your mailbox brick level backup was not completed yet and so you were not able to recover.

How many mailboxes do you have to back up ?

Depending on the mailbox size it does not make sense to backup more than some 20 mailboxes because it takes too long.
NW uses a mapi connection for the backup and restore process and this is well known to be slow.

We're backing up the information stores (msexch:IS) and recover them to the recovery storage group if needed and use the exchange task wizard to recover individual mailboxes from that.

We did finish one brick level mailbox backup and it still not showing in the GUI.

We run MSEXCH: and MSEXCH:MB and ALL(savesets)

Are we covering the IS with this command MSEXCH:? or only the SG?

Hi

Well you should in fact be able to see the mailboxes in the recover GUI under Private Mailboxes.

Looking at your savesets I would say that you are backing up
a bit too much but I do not know your requirements of course.

The saveset MSEXCH:IS covers all Information Stores (i.e. Mailboxes, SG's ) but you are already running MSEXCH: which covers all of your Exchange Server.

The saveset ALL will cover Exchange too but this is of course no valid onliner backup of your databases
