Hi,

I have a problem backing up individual Exchange Mailboxes.

The log entries are as follows:

[4340] /Private Mailboxes/Gross, Harald (LOG) 6192 KB 1073588 bytes/second
[4340] /Private Mailboxes/Gross, Mario (ETW) 400 KB 171309 bytes/second
[4340] /Private Mailboxes/Gruenhagen v., Sabine 8304 KB 1073377 bytes/second
[4340] G:\rt_2002_1Q\nsr\db_apps\aime\svmain.c(1121): process_mb_backup() = 0x8007203e
[4340] The XBSA transaction was not committed; the save operation did not complete.
[4340] Processed 40873 items 4736 MB in 1:03:53 1265487 bytes/second

So it starts the backup all right, but after backing up some Mailboxes it quits with the error message above.

In xbsa.messages are no entries.

Anyone ideas?

Thanks

Stephan

Could it be that some of the mailbox names have special characters in them?

We have the latest version of the backup software, so we have no probs with Mailbox names with dots in them.
Other Mailboxes get backed up ok.
Otherwise there are no special Characters in Mailbox Names.

But i got a hint that there could be a problem in connection with Groupshield for Exchange 2000.

Anyone more information on this?

Thanks

Stephan

Windows 2000 SP 3
Exchange 2000 SP 1
Networker 6.1.3
BSM 3.1 for Exchange

Run the mailbox backups manually on the exchange server with:

nsrxchsv -vvv -s (backup server) "MSEXCH:MB" > nsr-vvv.log 2>&1
nsrxchsv -D9 -s (backup server) "MSEXCH:MB" > nsr-d9.log 2>&1

Once completed, review these log files, plus the nsrxchsv.log and the xbsa.messages file. See if all the mailboxes actually backup, or does it really abort.

I also suggest you open a support ticket with Legato. They will need the log files generated to analize where the point of failure is.
