Hi, im doing my first installation of exchange 2003 (on win 2003 server) and im having a problem with setup.

Outgoing mail sits in the queue and keeps failing (currently at 22 retries for the two test mails to my yahoo and hotmail account). Ive tried deleting the mails, restarting smtp server etc and the same just happens when i send mail again.

I have a 'smart host' setup, using our ISP's SMTP server as the host (post.demon.co.uk 25) and can telnet to the server fine and it responds to the HELO and MAIL FROM commands.

Ive set logging to maximum but im getting very little info, not sure if this is because im using a smarthost.

Apologies for bothering people here, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

edit

Ive turned on queue information, and i am now getting

"The remote SMTP service rejected AUTH negotiation.
