Hi there,

You are running grpwise 6.5 with one MTA and one POA. We have 400 clients and about 200 of them are having there mails repeated to them. Some are sent through 8-12 times on different days. Please assist...

Are these duplicate e-mails being received from Internal or External sources? If external is it a variety of domains or just one domain?

Hi there,

No, it's external mail...one domain.

Here is one scenario I can think of off the top of my head. It could be a timeout problem when a SMTP session is established between your system and the senders system. During the session the mail is getting sent and received, but one side or the other is timing out and the senders side does not beleive that the message was delivered. Then the senders side queues the message up to be delivered later. And the process is started all over again. Which if the senders e-mail system is like GW (by default)it will try up to 4 days to deliver the message. I have had this happen on a couple of occasions and it ended up being found that there was a problem on the senders side (misconfigured firewall, bad router, etc., etc..)
