Mail Question

kind of a long story but here it is, we have a option 11 system with 4 box's on the wall and one of them has a merdian mail 13 card and I have the prospect of adding 6 more lines (mostly 500 sets) in the next 6 months and the software says I can only add two (the vendor says they can add another 100 to the Existing 300 but the cost is $5000)
the voice mail when called gives the caller options 1 through 4, My Question is a simple 1. If I removed the Voice mail and re-directed it to a seperate nortel with a Flash VM what would I gain in Licensing? or is there a specific spot to look in the setup ?

you wouldn't gain anything except the ability foir users to scream very loud.. the falsh is a KEY SYSTEM related voice mail, it will not light msg lamps are interface with a pbx.. the cost for software lic is bad and about to get worse, don't wait, if you are going to expand buy the tn's.. the hardware space for cards and the software lic are not married in any way.. go to load 11, you will see tn's ava.. that is the number of units you can add in software. then ld 20 luvu type=2000 .. those are cards that have at least one phone built and hardware ports for dig sets.. the same command using 500 to replace 2000 will show you vacant analog ports..

Are you sure that you only have 300 TN's in the system? The reason I ask is because 4 cabinets is a little much for just a 300 TN system. The only way I can see it, is if you have alot of 4 or 8 port trunk cards. Just thinking out loud.

Forgot to add go to LD 11 and do (LDIS 0 0) this will show disabled digital sets that are built but might not be being used. If they're not being used then you can out them and free up some TN's.

I agree with Hawks, you are sprading those 300 pretty thin across 4 cabs. Start looking for stuff no longer used. A T1 no longer in use is a quick way to grab a quick 23/24 of them.

We use mostly analog Sets here is the Breakdown
box1: 133 lines
box2: 79 lines
box3: 23 lines
box4: 34 Lines
I have a total of 14 Phantom DN's
which adds up to 283, which if I has 2 left which should leave 15 left over, there are 3/4 slots that have LS/GS trunk cards in them, (attached to 18-20 GS trunks from Qwest) would 911 trunking have anything to do with it ? as we also have Cami Trunks ?

Yup, your CAMA trunks as well as your ACD agents for Mail are all counted.

Well, if Cami\LS\GS trunking counts toward the 300 total then it looks like Yours Truely Gets to look through those 240 odd numbers and see what can Be "re-used" or otherwise "Re-allocated"
