I am confused. I have setup an account numerous times (Bell) and everytime i restart the computer the Incoming mail (pop3) server changes to localhost... and the account name adds the following to the end of the account name '/pophm.sympatico.ca'. Any ideas why it is doing this?

I'm not sure that this is on-topic for this forum, but here are a few threads to get you started:

reboot adds server to outlook express user name thread605-831435

Outlook keeps changing to "localhost" thread605-517862

The sympatico.ca name refers to a bell email website "getemail.sympatico.ca". The change of your pop3 server to "localhost" could be one of four things:
1. Many antivirus programs use this setting to filter your email for possible viruses (avast! anti virus is an example)
2. Your provider (bell) is using this setting to filter your email
3. A firewall uses this to filter your email
4. A spyware program or virus is using this setting to check for incoming messages tied the spyware or virus.

The most likely scenario is that you have an anti virus program that scans your email on your machine (thus the localhost setting), and then "serves" the email to your email client.

believe me, the culprit is your antivirus..uninstall it first..and test it agen....
