Hello All,

I work in a large investment bank network which has just migrated from an NT to XP environment.

We are using Lotus Notes Release 5.0.11 and
XP Professional Version 2002 SP1

The problem is that in NT, the mail notification pop-up was visible when it opened, regardless of how many applications the user had open at the time of the notification.

In XP, the pop-up is no longer visible; the taskbar flashes orange and, of course, there is an audible notification (if you have it turned on), but the pop-up does not appear until you actually switch to Notes. Many users have requested that the pop-up behave like it did in NT.

Is there any way to return to the NT-style notification?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the WinGuides link. That's great information. I always like to know what's going on behind the curtain.

Unfortunately, the IT folks here have locked down the C:\ drive, Registry, etc. to anyone but someone with development rights. Since no users or training/support types such as myself have these rights, the odds of editing the registry are nil.

However, after perusing one of the posts here on a slightly different topic about the NOTES MINDER, I found that if I opened the Minder and set the properties of the Minder to 'Visual Notification for Mail', the pop-up for the Minder DOES get focus and stays on top until you click OK. The only complicating factor is that you need to shut off the visual notification in Notes | User Preferences, because it interferes slightly with the Minder notification.

The only problem is that I can't figure out how to get the Minder to open automatically when I open Notes. Does that require an edit to the Notes.ini file?

Anyhow, thanks a lot for your reply.

One option would be to add Notes Minder to the Startup folder to have it launch when windows launches.

Mike,

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. The Notes Minder does require user intervention (entering password) so I'm hoping it won't delay or interfere with any of the other activity (numerous scripts) during startup. I'll give it a try and determine what I need to advise users who want to use this feature in this way.

Thanks again for you help!
