I have a document that we are trying to mail merge with a data source (access database) for a mass mailing. When you go into the "recipient list" from the mail merge toolbar the edit button is grayed out. (It is the only button grayed out) I can't seem to figure out why it is grayed out. The permissions on the database that is being used as a data source is correct, as is the folder that it is stored under. Any ideas why this is happening? It seems to happen to everyone that attempts to use it (Not limited to one specific person)

Thanks.

Click on the question mark (at the right top of the dialog) and next on the grayed button. The tip will explain when you can use the 'edit' button.

I don't seem to have a question mark at the top right of my dialog box. Only an X. I have Office 2003.

Perhaps the database is opened by someone else exclusively.

Skip,

[glasses] When a group touring the Crest Toothpaste factory got caught in a large cooler, headlines read...

Many are Cold, but Few are Frozen![tongue]

No, I thought of that and created a new database, pulling in the information and placing it in a new folder with all rights on it exclusively for the document in question. The edit button is still grayed out.

The information from word xp:
Records can be edited, when the data source is MS Office address list (created with mailmerge wizard), Publisher's address list or word document used as data source by other word document. In other cases the 'edit' button is unavailable.
MS access seems to be the 'other case', so whatever the premissions are, the list will be uneditable.
