I have a datasource that is exported from an Oracle Database using SQL. It has all the applicants for a course with the course title, start date, times etc. I can create a catalog mail merge with word that will list all the applicants for the course on one page. What I would like to do is to put the Course Title, start date etc on the page once as it is the same for each person. I tried putting the fields in the Header but it won't print the data, only the field names. I have checked in options to make sure that print fields is deselected. If I put the Title etc just at the top of the page it will then split the list and with the Title appearing between each applicant. Any ideas. I thought of using Access but the client wants to be able to post edit the report sometimes.

Dreamboat. It's ok, just shows that when you are desperate you will do anything, and I did a search of the Knowledgebase and found something that works!

How to Use Mail Merge to Create a List Sorted by Category .

The key field to group on is called {Mergefield City}.
Table like this (Sorted by City)
CITY EMPLOYEE SALES
Bath Davies £10,500
Bath Peterson £2,000
London Smith £3,000
London Jones £20,000

{If{MergeSeq}="1" "{Mergefield City}
" ""}{Set Place1{Mergefield City}}
{If {Place2}<>{Place1}"
{Mergefield City}

{Mergefield employee}{Mergefield Sales}" "{Mergefield Employee}{Mergefield Sales}"}{Set Place2{Mergefield City}}

Will produce this
Bath

Davies £10,500
Peterson £2,000

London

Smith £3,000
Jones £20,000

I hope this will help someone else. There are more details on the article on how to force a New Page.

Well, hey, Andy, you just push that little FAQ button down at the bottom of the page. Maybe put it into a category called Word MailMerge (I'll add some other stuff later) and just copy/paste. Good info.

I've seen this solution posted in the Microsoft Knowledgebase. Will it work for the following, too?

*** *** ***

This is the sales information for sales area Europe.

CITY EMPLOYEE SALES
Bath Davies £10,500
Bath Peterson £2,000
London Smith £3,000
London Jones £20,000

< Page break >

This is the sales information for sales person United States.

CITY EMPLOYEE SALES
Dallas Danzig $10,500
Dallas Peters $2,000
Norman Smalley $3,000
Norman Wilson $20,000

Thank you for posting this information. I was wondering if by any chance you have been able to create a mail merge with 2 groupings. Example Data:

Country City Name Title
USA Dallas John Manager
USA Dallas Brian Assistant
USA Florida Tom Assistant
Europe London Liz VP
Europe France Carmen Director
Europe France Bill Assistant

The result should be:

USA
Dallas
John, Manager
Brian, Assistant
Florida
Tom, Assistant

EUROPE
London
Liz, VP
France
Carmen, Director
Bill, Assistant

Here is the code I am using:
{If{MergeSeq}="1" "{Mergefield Country}
" ""}{Set Place1{Mergefield Country}}
{If{MergeSeq}="1" "{Mergefield City}
" ""}{Set Place1{Mergefield City}}
{If {Place2{Mergefield Country}}<>{Place1{Mergefield Country}}"
{Mergefield Country}
{If {Place2{Mergefield City}}<>{Place1{Mergefield City}}"
{Mergefield City}

{Mergefield Name}{Mergefield Title}" "{Mergefield Name}{Mergefield Title}"}{Set Place2{Mergefield Country}}

This is the result I am getting :

USA
Dallas
John, Manager
USA
Dallas
Brian, Assistant
USA
Florida
Tom, Assistant

EUROPE
London
Liz, VP
Europe
France
Carmen, Director
Europe
France
Bill, Assistant

What am I doing wrong!!!!
