Mail from Unix thru Exchange 5.5

We have scenario where we would like to generate mail on our unix mainframe and email to external suppliers.

BUT we went the "from" address to be something like "AccountsPayable@mycompany.com" rather than "root@unixbox.mycompany.com".

Can I create a rule on Exchange Server 5.5 to be something like:

Any mail from "root@unixbox.mycompany.com" with a subject line starting with "Remittance advice" resend from "AccountsPayable@mycompany.com".

Is there an easier way to do it or just No Way!!!

Not possible with Exch5.5 as the Unix box is generating the SMTP address and simply using Exchange as a SMTP relay device. Very different from using a proper exchange client like Outlook97,2000.
In this case Exchange doesnt perform any real processing to the message, it just moves it along to the appropriate host.

The Unix guys at my co. say the easiest way to do this is just to do "address aliasing" on the UNIX box. It's an entry in the Sendmail config file on the UNXI box that lets you change the address from which the mail appears to come.
You can change it to anything. Hope this helps. DP

As it happpens, we will be migrating to Exchange 2000 in the very near future (F1lby), so would it be better to wait till then, and if so, what are the steps I need to perform there?

My company is downsizing (radically) and we all seem to need to spread our wings a lot further than before, hence the newbie-like questins.
