Hi all we are researching logon access to the network via a magnetic strip card. Is this possible as I can find articles on using smart cards but not magnetic cards.

Cheers

It *can* be done, if you use a wedge card reader, and encode the proper string on the magnetic strips. I've done it as an experiment.

I mainly used magnetic cards and a reader to log onto internal web pages though. That worked slick.

Hi thanks for that. what strings would need to be encoded to the cards??

If you are using a wedge reader, you would encode the login, crlf, and password (after your pre- and post- string information.)
