Hi all...

have a 2 cabinet Magix with Merlin Messaging. There are 2 Extensions that the VM light will not turn off. I have tried the following so far

--MW Lamp Clear (several times)
--#*53 ext (several times)
--Busy out port of ext and restore
--Busy out Slot and restore
--reinitalize mailbox
--delete mailbox and recreate
--swap phones with one that the vm light is not on (4412d)
--reboot entire system
--Power down system and reseat cards where those ext's are located and messaging card

anyone have any other options for me???

Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich,

I think you tried to clear the message light using the MENU >MSGS>DLETE procedure as mentioned in your first sentence.

I ran into this very same thing after a major renumbering of all phones in a MAGIX 1.5 system. I could not force out the light no matter what I did. I went under MAINTENANCE in the programming and under SYSTEM there is a selection called MW LP Update. You press this and on the next menu, clear all MWI. However, this didn't work for me either.

The only way I could get it out was to backup the system, wipe the processor clean, and restore the programming. It was a drastic last ditch attempt for me, but it worked after trying everything else for a week.

This was my experience with it. Good luck.

At the phone, did you go through the menus to confirm that it was indeed the voice mail that lit the lights? And have you confirmed that they are not the message waiting receivers for any of the General Mailboxes or any Calling Groups?

Mike: that is where I ran the MW Lamp Clear from under maintenance

Tommy: I did verify that that the two extensions in question were not the message waiting receivers for any general mailboxes or groups. I'll check the other settings next time i am on site

Thanks
Rich

Maybe its the case of the fumbling operator. Had a case where the operator had pressed the MW staus on her DSS and was playing and lighting lamps. Had two seperate WO's that said, Operator can't transfer calls, then the second one said MWI still on with no messages in mailbox. That was a no brainer.

when you have the 4412 at that extension did you go menu - menu Msgs and what does it show, does it in deed show a voicemail or did someone post a message to that extension by playing around?
