I'm having some troubles with 2 Magix R2 networked together. The first problem is that the guy who set up the thing left our company, so I was his helper, and now it's my problem to fix. I haven't called a Vendor because one site is VERY remote (3-4 hr car ride from major civilization). I know enough programming to be dangerous and maybe fix the problem too, if I'm lucky. We have 2 Magix networked together with 100DCD cards over a T1/fiber then fiber/T1 with no other data running on the T1. Magix 1 has the AA, Extensions and some POTS lines into it. Magix 2 only Extensions and POTS lines. It seems that anytime a call comes from a POTS (Magix 1 or 2) through the AA and over the tie trunks to back Magix 2 the caller doesn't hear the ringing but the ext rings. But if you call from any ext (Magix 1 or 2)either direct to the ext or throught the AA everything works OK. It also seems like any calls (POTS or local ext)originating on Magix 2 to the AA (at Magix 1) back to the local UDP on Magix 2 will tie up 2 trunk lines until the call is disconnected.

Any help would be great.... This site is the BEST!!!!
Thanks,Jebb

To address your second concern first, it is normal for a call routed in this manner to tie up two channels.

Is you PTP programmed as a PRI or T1 emulating TIE trunks?
Did this situation just start happening?

It's set up as PRI. I think the problem has always been like this. This was the last job that the tech did before he left the company so he probably rushed through it. Thanks for the 2 trunk usage answer I just wasn't sure. I have lots of learning to do....

Try going into menu, options, transfer, audible, select ring back. If you have MOH selected and no Music source that may be your problem

Thanks Ken1713 it was the MOH as you said. I probably would have never figured it out. This site is great!!!

Hi Ghostin
I tried to get to your website to download your info. I'm not having any luck. Could you email it to me at ics At mc.net. Thank you

Alex

Hi Ghostin,
I took a look at your cheat sheet but I am wondering if you could tell me what the difference is between a T-1 crossover and a standard Cat 5 crossover cable. Thank you

Jesse

standard Cat 5 cables cross over pins 1&2 and 3&6.

A T-1 cross over cable uses pins 1 & 2 and 4 & 5.
