I thought I would run this past here before I commit to pulling the battery strap and reprovisioning by hand. Magix 3.0 processor that has problems connecting. After a power cycle the modem works correctly for a small period of time. WinSPM work correctly and there are no problems. However when it acts up the login prompt sequence shows at the bottom of spm but no login window appears or is seen.

This has occurred for years so I changed out the processor with an identical unit just before Christmas and used the restore card to restore translations to the new unit.

When tested spm worked as expected so it appeared that the issue was resolved. But alas the problem is back and is a bit worse since one local user could use winspm and *10 to connect with the old processor but now can not.

I have not power cycled this unit yet but I would expect it to begin working for a few days before not working. While it is not working a local user can dial *10 from a phone and hear modem tones.

In this case would pulling the strap and rebuilding by hand be correct? Corruption?

Having worked on Legends since before they were a real product, I find this to be a very interesting set of posts.

I am having an almost similar issue with one of my Customer's clients.

Remotely, could not access through Modem.

On Site, first thing I did was reset the Modem with the Console.

Then, still On Site, using an Analog port into my Laptop, was able to access the system through SPM.

Next, still On Site, I dialed out of the system, and back in, and was STILL able to access the system through SPM.

Went back to my office, remote STILL DID NOT WORK.

Now, this is the one I chalk up to an ANALOG (my Lab Line connected to my PC) to DIGITAL (the client's PRI) issue.

Before leaving the client's site, I instructed El Jefe on resetting the Modem with the console.

But I still dread they day the need remote programming.

We will see...

I have found pc 56k internal modems to be problematic. Even
with the Lucent chipset, they will not always work properly.
I have had better success with older modems and pc's.
Legend internal modems have had a high success rate...its
what connects to them that is the problem. go figure.

The original processor is a CKE5 617S33-K Release 3.0 v7.0 HW 02.

I'll get the replacement hardware info tomorrow.

I'll jump into this one.. It's seems always the cke5's, the later one's made by V????? something .. In the Legend/Magix heyday I see I replaced 17 processors, all CKE5's as a dealer that worked fine, but the modem was bad. (Just ran a qwik TPS report).

It's simply a bad, un-reliable modem. I've been seeing this problem since the Legend R7 came out on CKE5's.

Never experienced modem failures like this with ANY of the previous version processors/modems.
