s56 data signaling in and out

The dang thang will no allow me to assign common channel signaling. I have tried defaulting the system to see if it was a programming foul and it still wouldn't work. I have unnasigned all lines and pools, all udp routing, ect. I cannot see anything in the switch that would be tying up the 24th channel (and I have it unnasigned. I have also tried it with all 24 channels unnasigned)

If anyone knows what I need to do to be allowed to change it it would be GREATLY appreciated

Are you trying to set this up as a point to point T-1 to another magix system? If so, you will need to configure it for PRI instead on common channel.

Actually, it is s56 incoming outgoing, and the sp has it set up so that all channels can be used for being routed to another site by adding digits.

The service provider says they are switching it to a PRI so my worries seem to be over... but I got so frustrated (primarily because my Legend in the office let me switch settings) that I made a call to the mecca of expensive tech support... AVAYA

The gentlemen over the phone said that the Legend and Magix will not support Common Channel signaling for a T1. I hope that is not true as I don't understand why they would even have it as an option. He was nice enough not to take my credit card number and charge me.

Does your experience indicate that the tech support I got was wrong, and that T1 can do common channeling...

I always thought everything except PRI circuits on the T1 card were robbed bit and only a PRI Were be configured to use a common channel for signalling.

Switched 56 uses a 64 Kbps channel, but one bit per byte is used for band signaling, leaving 56 Kbps for data. (hence robbed bit signaling)

Avaya is right

The sp originally said that it was robbed bit, but now they say that they can only do common channel... I don't know.. But I learned something thank you sir
