Before I start, let me say that I've poured through this forum and have found some possible issues/resolutions, but I'm still having the problem. So, to the experts I've come:

Magix 2.0 V9.0. DuVoice DV2000 messaging.
3 - 2-way copper trunks (local and LD through Qwest)

Symptoms:
* Random voice-mails filled with dial-tome
* Random dropped calls (only on "line 2")
* Random phantom calls (only on "line 2")
* In the drops and phantoms, the green LED disappears
* No common factors - inbound, outbound, long distance, cell phones, etc.

What I've done:
* Changed LS disconnect to yes
* Have the staff logging times, circumstances, etc.
* Tested voice-mail system after hours under load. Hang up before voice-mail answers, hang up after it answers but before it records, hang up while it is recording. I can't duplicate it

What I still need to do:
* Confirm that the loop start trunks are providing positive disconnect
* Confirm hunting scheme and order
* Confirm that dedicated fax line is not part of the hunt scheme
* Connect to the Magix via WinSPM to view error log(s)
* Find someone or some documentation who can advise on "disconnect" settings in an old version of DuVoice - dial-tone detection is set at 60000ms, and that doesn't seem right to me

I realize there's still a lot I have to do to narrow this down ... originally I was thinking it was a hunt issue, but the LEC has tested the lines and believes they are in working order. I don't believe they've validated positive disconnect, however.

I was just hoping I might get some input on other things that I might have overlooked, things not to waste my time on, etc.

[Stop me if you've heard this one] I'm not a telecom guy by trade - I am an IT guy who has worked on Avaya, Aspect and Nortel along the way. My first experience with a Magix - supporting my kids' private school where my wife works. I'm definitely not an expert, but smart enough I can figure it out with some guidance and/or good documentation.

Thanks,
Darin

Confirming Positive LS Disconnect - Call out from system to a regular phone line (Cell Phone may not work)

Put the outgoing call on hold.

Hang up the phone that was called.

If the line does not drop then, NO FORWARD DISCONNECT.

I would also look at "HOLD DISCONNECT", and if it is long, set it to short.

Thanks, Merlinman! Do I need to match the hold disconnect timing with the telco, or just set it to short anyway?

You normally match the CO switch, and all the major CO switches usually have a 460ms to 600ms Open Loop Disconnect Signal or Interval. When the loop is fed from remote terminals or other type apparatus, the timing may be different. So you may need to experiment and see what will work for your lines.
