Hello, I am having a pri brought in to a magix switch and it is being provisioned with DID. The current numbering is in the 200 - 300 range. The DID's are in the 3340-3389 range. What are my best options for an easy transition. They also have VM. DID's are new to me, I have been told a couple of option's I would love the opinions of this boards experts..

Thanks in Advance..

OK. We have our DID's and they all go to the console. I went to Dial Plan Routing and followed Fonedude's instructions. Still doesn't work. Isn't Dial Plan routing for outgoing dialing? My vendor wants me to renumber only those that will get the DID's but our DSS console is numbered sequentially 2200 to 2299 and I think it has to be. We have 2 DSS units. It seems to me that the DID extensions when renumbered to 55xx would not be in the console.

Also, anyone have any opinions on the Avaya Merlin Magix Advanced course? Good, bad, ugly? As you can probably tell by now, I am mostly interested in doing most of the configuring on our system myself which is why our vendor is not more involved--he knows we want to do it ourselves.

TIA for any more suggestions.

Sue

what are your extension numbers and what is the provider sending you for DID numbers?

We have 2 sets of extension numbers and 2 sets of DID numbers:
Ext Range DID range
2201-2260 5501-5560
2101-2120 5401-5420

Thanks again.

your extension range must match your DID range. You will need to renumber your extensions to match accordingly, for example, x2201 will need to be renumbered to 5501 and so on..

Since you have a PRI, you could delete the first two digits (54 & 55) and insert 21 & 22. I agree with the other posters, however, and renumber your switch and create new mailboxes. It will prove more beneficial in the long run and should take no more than about an hour.

If you have a "LATE MODEL" Magix and MESSAGING, creating New Mailboxes is a SNAP. The only precaution I would give is make sure every one has retrieved their old messages before you do that.
