I have a Merlin Magix 6.0 with T1 and 30 4400series phones, and 16 analog stations. Recently just had Paetec require a PIN code for LD calls. Now we want the PIN codes removed from the fax machine extensions.

Can someone please let me know how to program ARS (auto route selection) for extension 589 so that it would append a "1234" code after the fax extensions call-out an LD number?

Of course they are too lazy to add the pauses and the code after every call...

Thanx in advance!

The leads should be able to provide info.

This is just a general note.

The Merlin Magix went as high as the 4.0 release. The Merlin Legend went up to 7.0. So your Magix processor really can't be a 6.0.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Well if you have a PRI then I don't know how you would do it. There are provisions in IP Office for this using the Y character and PRI. Works very well for exactly this application.

Y - Wait for Call Progress Message
Wait for a Call Progress or Call Proceeding message before sending any following digits as DTMF. For example, the Y character would be necessary at a site where they have signed up with their telephone service provider to withhold international dialing until a DTMF pin/account number is entered that initiates the call progress/proceeding message.

If it can be done on PRI and Merlin I would certainly like to know how since I don't believe that inserting pauses will work.

What kind of trunking do you have? PRI, TIE, emulated loop or ground start?

BTW I don't believe that CM can do this either. Yay IPO....

Ok, I thought it was a version 6, I must be wrong. I cannot access it remotely.

BTW, it's a T1 trunk with 24 channels...

However, How does the Legend or Magix handle carrier access codes when dialing a particular number?

Doesn't the Merlin Magix have ARS?

Thanx a bunch!

So it's NOT a PRI? Just a "plain vanilla" T1?

Do you need a pause between the number and the code?

If not, raise the FRL of the Fax Extension, and create an ARS route that has the same FRL and has the code in the "other digits" field.

If you need a pause, all bets are off.

Not to be too lazy/stupid myself, in WSPM what are the menu items I'm looking to drill down to? What do you suggest I raise the FRL to? I think the pause is slight (200 ms?), maybe adding a digit might do the trick if I need to...

Thanx a bunch!

Sorry BTW, YES it's a plain ole vanilla T1 with no Caller ID in service for 15+ years with no changes...

Thanx a bunch!

OK, my bad. I just staged a Legend to test, and the "other digits" are added at the beginning of the dial string. So you're pretty much out of luck, as I see it.

So, how about a Mitel SMarT-1 dialer, inserted between the Fax and the station port, to add the account code for you. They can even be programmed to wait for the tone from the CLEC to prompt for the account code.
