mag card reader does not read name off card

We had to replace the terminals broken mag card reader with an external usb reader. Now when we swipe a credit card to start a tab it pulls the card number as the persons name and prints it on the check. Can't use it until we figure this out. Why is it doing this? Is there a setting I need to change?

the card reader is reading track one instead of track two from the card.

But i dont know that system so i dont know a fix.
