I have a small network with 3 macs running osx
This PC runs a software RIP called Best Colorproof, which drives an
Epson Pro 4000 printer. The RIP produces virtual Postscript printers
which are available over the network.

Presently, the Macs all see each other OK. However, the PC does not see the Macs and vice versa. The Postscript printers are no longer visible on the Macs. However the PC is connected to the ADSL connection and has an IP number (issued via DHCP by the modem router).

Apart from reinstalling the appletalk protocol on the windows pc, can anyone suggest any ways to troubleshoot this issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Andrew

Installing the protocol is neccessary (which you have done) to talk to an Appletalk network, but in order to function as a server you also need to install the following:

File and Print Client Service for Macintosh.

If you go through to the properties page for the network adapter in question (By opening 'Network Adapters', right-clicking the appropriate adapter and selecting 'properties' - on your Windows box of course!)

From there click the button labeled 'install', select 'Clients', click 'Add' and from hopefully you should see 'File and Print services for mac' or another option to that effect.

This definitely works for 2K server, if I remember rightly 2K Pro has this client available for installation too.

Best of luck! Hope this helps.

It bothers me that the PC only has a public IP (obtained from the modem), and the MACs are all using private IPs.
