Macros keep disappearing

I create a macro in Word and stick it on the toolbar but sometime later it disappears. I have restarted word just to test if it was happening after application closure and it isn't and it only seems to be happening when i reboot or i guess log out and log back in.

What i also don't understand is where are the macros stored,if my macro remains after i close and reopen word then it must have a copy of it somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated

I just want to add that i save the macro in Normal.dot and additionaly i place the macro in a personal toolbar I create for the purpose of storing macros this too is gone ???
