Macros Disabled in Word 97

A computer at work indicates macros are disabled in Word 97. The words "Macros Disabled" are grayed out on the Standard Tool Bar. Anyone knows how to enable it? Since this has occurred opening certain word documents displays the vb editor and a "runtime" error message. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.

2nd Request!!! Can anyone help me or at least point me in the right direction? I know the macros virus protection prompt has the "disable macros" button but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this problem and how I can fix it. PLEASE!! PLEASE!!

Check first for virus!!! There are Word-Macro-Virus who enables macrofunction in Word. I forgot his name, but whe had many attacks!!!

In Word.
Just go in the "tools" + "macro" + "security" and put the security level to "low".
But if you do this make shure that the files you open are safe cus you'r not protected anymor against virus,,
