Macros ARE enabled, yet cannot run (Word 2007)

I am having an issue with a client - He cannot run macros in Word 2007 (Excel works fine). We have set his macro securities to enable all macros, yet nothing will run. I had him check all references, and everything seems to be in order there. I had him create a dummy sub to see if even the simplest code would run (MsgBox("Test")) without success. I had him run the same code in an Immediate window (Ctrl+G), again, with no success. Lastly, I had him run the message box in Excel, and it seemed to work.
After quite a bit of research, I've found that the VBA reference can need to be re-registered, but if this were the case, wouldn't it show up as MISSING (or not show up at all in the references)? Below is the error code he gets when attempting to run any code.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am at a loss here.

I've had the same issue.

OK - go to the options from the Office button, then trust centre, then trust centre settings, then trusted locations, and set the folder for this document to be trusted.

All should then be fine.

Thanks, but that doesn't help. I forgot to mention the file is in the user's STARTUP folder, which is already a trusted location.

Strange... At the rsisk of asking a 'daft' question - its not in a subfolder of the startup folder is it?

This article implies that might not work...

Nope, it is in root STARTUP. I've installed the add-in there, but have had the user move it to attempt to debug it. I trust he has put it back in the location, as it is showing up as loaded, just that no macros can run.
If my memory serves me, he couldn't even get it to work by moving the file from STARTUP and starting it on its own.

Have you tried creating a certificate so that you can be a trusted author?

If memory serves, add-ins have different rules and I believe that the trusted locations are nothing to do with add-ins at all...

Anything helpful here?

Thanks Welshbird, but no dice there. Word should override all macro settings for trusted locations (as it has for every other person at their company). I had a digital signature attached to the file previously, and he still couldn't run anything.

And at the risk of checking the obvious - there is an option in the trust centre to disable all add-ins....

I assume not (stupid me), but will check with the user. When I checked this box on my own machine, though, trusted locations were still working fine.

Any news?

Nothing yet. I haven't had a chance to work with this particular user - He is high up and doesn't have a ton of time to work on debugging. I found a couple other things to try, like to attempt to reinstall VBA. I will let you know if/when I get a chance to try them.
