Macromedia products, Netware 4 and NT?

Our Macromedia users, and some others, are unable to save files to any of our Netware 4.11 servers from within the applications. They have to save to a local hard drive and then copy the file to the server. They all run NT Workstation and Novell Client 32. One user who uses 3D Studio Max also has this problem, but he can't open files either! He has to shut down the application, and double click the file in Explorer. This is something that's developed over the last year. When asked, they all say that 'it used to work OK'!<br>They can save files OK to a Windows NT server. Please don't say I'm going to have to migrate!!<br>Does anyone else have the same problem?<br>Thanks

Check if the users individually can save to the NetWare file server (using the same drive letter). In almost all cases (no matter what you think) this is a rights issue.

Yes, they can save in other applications (Word, etc) and in other ways, OK. The rights are as they should be. Other members of the same group who use Macintoshes can save OK too.

Are they trying to save or open using specifically mapped drive letters or by navigating in the dialog box to the Network Neighborhood (UNC)? If you are using mapped drives, are they map rooted?<br><br>We had a similar problem with Microsoft Publisher. Turns out that Publisher MUST write some temporary files to the ROOT of the drive, in this case the SYS volume, which users don't have rights to. If the user doesn't have sufficient rights to the ROOT of the drive, it would generate an error when saving. Try saving to a map rooted drive letter where the user has full rights.<br>
