Hey I'm new to Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I don't know anything really! I know the basics like backrounds, flash buttons, and things like that but I would like to get into more advaned things to make a good website! Please someone help me with just maybe a few things you know or just give me a quick tutorial on stuff!

Thanx!!

I use mx not mx 2004, but DW really hasn't changed that much over the years, so the differences should be reasonably minimal. I suggest you start with the tutorials included in DW, even if it's not quite what you want to know, you at least get a feel for the programme.
DW won't make you make a good website, it's just a tool, and you need to know the theory yourself to produce something good.
If you know HTML, then use the split veiw and fool with the buttons, see what they do, etc. If you don't know HTML... learn! Like any tool, DW can bloat your code if misused, and you need to get in and edit the HTML on occasions.

Whan you first start using it, go into site > edit > preferences > layout veiw, and set Auto insert spacers to never. Letting DW auto insert spacers when you build tables causes awful problems.

Beyond that, if you have any specific queries, ask, if not, do a google and look for other tutorials, there are heaps of them out there, and you'll just have to search to find one that suits what you are trying to do.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

to make good websites takes practice -- ive been at it 5 years now and from day 1 to now there is a HUGE difference in how my sites look -- I cant believe some of the crap ive put out in the past!!!

just make as many sites and look around and then try and duplicate site you like -- best practice of all

I'll echo darrync's remarks,

It take far more than software to build a good site, Learn HTML & CSS and get away from design view quickly.
