I have devised a procedure in Macro Express that replaces a (short) series of mouse clicks (in Chrome). It sometimes works, and at other times does not, so it is unreliable. I have NO IDEA what causes the failures. I am wondering what macro program produces RELIABLE results.

You could try AutoHotkey. In general it has no problem in reproducing mouse clicks. But keep in mind that there might be some feature of Chrome that is causing Macro Express not to work, in which case that might also apply to other utilities.

AutoHotkey has the advantage of being free and open source, with a substantial user base.

That is a lot of homework - I'll work my way through it steadily and report back.
