Hello People,

I have a slight problem with Macola. On this clients computer I cannot go into anything besides the main screen. From there it wont let me get into anything else, I get this Error when I Open anything "Unable to load MacReg7.dll" when I press ok I get a few other Errors and then window doesn't open. I have tried to log into the users account on my computer and everything works fine. Also I tried to log onto another account from the problematic computer and it also doesn't work. I have tried to uninstall and do a fresh reinstall but it still doesn't work. If anyone knows anything about Macola could you please help me out.

It would be most appreciated if anyone could possible help me.

Thanks,

Try logging into the network as a user with domain admin privildges and see if Macola works fine.

I believe this to be a rights issue with the users. There is a white paper available on the Macola site and has been listed here several times about the precise rights needed to operate macola on WinXp and Win2k. Pretty easy to follow. As another test you can give the user admin rights to the local box for a test and see if they can run it then.

Make sure macola shared is in the search path of the workstation.

Go to a command line and type path. You should see c:\program files\common files\macola shared. If you do not you will need to edit the autoexec.bat on a windows98 to change the set path statement to include the above entry. On a windows 2000 or XP, you will need to edit the path statement in the environment variables in Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environment Variables

Also, make sure these client machines use the same drive letter designation to reach the macola folder on the server. Each pc has to be the same, including the drive letter. For example, if everyone uses M:\macsql, mapping M to \\server\macapps, every PC has to be the same.

Hello Again,

This This Macola issue is still happening. I have tried all of the commands that were given even before I wrtoe this ticket. M:\macsql, C:\program Files\Macola Shared is in the PATH= and the User is setup as the admin on the local computer.

Can you check the shortcut that you are running macola from. Under its properties check the path of the command and the startup folder. Insure that these are drive letter paths and not unc paths.

This is under the Shortcut Tab

Target: M:\macsql\pwe.exe

Start in: M:\macsql

Shortcut Key: None

Stupid question but did you do a full client install on the workstations? Both the DB client and check connectivity and a full macola client install?

Does the same thing happen in Progression Explorer?

Also (taken from Macola's site)
Verify the file macreg7.dll exists in the C:\Common Files\Program Files\Macola Shared directory on the workstation.

Verify the Macola Shared directory is in the path. From a DOS prompt, type the word PATH and hit [enter].
If it does not exist, add it with the SET PATH command.
If path statement is long, move the Macola Shared to the beginning of path.
If receiving the error on a Windows 98 workstation, It may be necessary to edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the workstation, or copy the AUTOEXEC.BAT from a working workstation.
