Macormedia Flash will not install

I have a Dell 8200 W/Win 2000 SP3, W/I.E. 5.5 sp2 on a Domain. I have tried to install Macromedia Flash on this system it would not come-up. I then uninstalled it, went to the "Tools, Internet Options, Security Custom Level and insured the ActiveX Controls and Run ActiveX controls and Plug-in were not disabled" I have end tasked every possible task I could and still operate with no results. I insured that the PCT 1.0 and TLS 1.0 selections were cleared. I ran the uninstall tool, rebooted and replied the Flash download and nothing happened. I upgraded the Browser to I.E. 6.0 with no results. I did everything in the FAQ located at

with no results. I am running out of things to do. Any and all help/assistance/guidance would be appreciated.
I have also removed any and all Third Party Media Players. with the same negative results. Before I tried to install Flash I ran the uninstall program. and started from scratch.

might be a pretty simple question but...
do you have administrator priviledges on the machine?

besides administrative previlages look for the java plugins and active x plugings security policy in the IE.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I am the Administrator, and I have checked the Java and ActiveX plugins, and the security setting. I played with the security setting going both ways. I even reloaded Virtual Machine.

i guess you are trying to download the plugin from the web...

i experienced that when one installs flash itself (not just the plugin) in a folder there are install-files for the player and the plugin as well. so if you send me your e-mail-address to the address listed in my profile, i can send you the files i have. might work better than downloading the plugin.
