I have an issue similar to thread639-1420107 except the difference is that when you hit f7 the window goes grey and it moves like the search box came up, but it really did not, and now screen that I tried to do this search on will not do anything. It is locked up. On the same machine, under a different username, there is no issues at all. If I admin onto the machine and do an f7 search, it works flawlessly.

Any ideas? ODBC connections are working fine, I have uninstalled, also made sure the path for Macola was at the beginning.

It worked fine until last week.

Macola Progression 7.8.200
Windows 7 Pro

Please help!!!

Josh

So, today I did a complete uninstall, including going through the registry and deleting everything Macola.. Reinstall Macola, works great on admin account.. even logged in as the user, worked good.. go to the users account, and log in as him, and then also log into Macola, open Multiple line item view, and click on binoculars.. screen greys out, looks like the search box popped up, but it didn't.. Now first screen is unresponsive, I think in part, because it is acting like the search box is up. I have checked all windows open, and still nothing.. I have to manually quit Macola through task manager in order to be able to use it again, as it is locked up.

I assume it has something to do with the users account, and maybe the window is there, just off the screen? I don't know anymore at this point.

Of course I don't wish this upon anyone, but I sure do wish someone else has gone through this and may have some ideas!!

See if that user has a modified screen. The searches are tied to the screen.

How would I go about checking the modified screens? I am fairly new to Macola Progression even though it has been in our company for a very long time.. I took over a position in the last few years, that really require me to do some digging, as our company pays maintenance, but not support. Seriously, any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Right click on the gray area of the screen in question. If it is modified the user name will be something other than 'MACOLA'. Your reseller or Exact regional office should be able to help, but yes, you'll have to pay for that help.

Ok, I did what you said, and for the username, it lists his username, not MACOLA... So I have him hit the switch to default button, but no matter what it does not stick.. he can exit the screen, and then reopen it, and it shows his username again in the user name. There has to be a simple fix for this.

Still, thank you for your time.

Like I said, call your reseller or Exact regional office, this won't be too expensive. An hour is my guess.

So basically what you are telling me is that you pretty much know the solution to my problem, but you want me to pay for support.. Don't worry about it. We are moving on anyways.

I appreciate your time though.

No, I don't know the solution to your problem, but I think I could find it in an hour. Then again it might be 3 or it might be 15 minutes. You never have to pay for support, as in signing a support contract with Exact or your reseller, even though you may be pressured to do so. Hold out and say you just want this one problem fixed and you'll pay for the time it takes to resolve it (assuming you do want it fixed).

So really, what is the point of a forum then.. so someone can tell me that I have to pay to have something fixed, instead of help getting it fixed? If I wanted that answer I wouldn't even be here in the first place.. I would have done exactly what they said, and you, and just paid to fix it. Macola Progression is so out dated, that they should pay it forward a little bit and help out with some simple things instead of charging me 100 dollars per hour to fix something like this.

For you to say you don't know the solution to my problem, and then offer a solution for IT people that does indeed offer a solution for modified screens with the full package for $1500 dollars on your website, is just plain terrible.

I think if you were just going to say to contact support, and pay, you should have done that right away... Across multiple forums that I have been on asking about this, and you have replied on.

When I said I appreciate your time, after a little investigating, I definitely would like to take that comment back, and say thank you for nothing. Just don't consider a persons title to mean anything nowadays.

IMO, whoever might take this on would need remote access to your SQL Server to diagnose the problem. There are limits to what can be done in a forum, and also IMHO you have reached that limit.

If you look at my history on this forum I have done more than "pay it forward".

I don't what you're talking about my website for, because the only thing I offer on modified screens is a report and it WILL NOT fix your problem. I am not looking to sell anything to you, I am just pointing out that this does not necessarily have a quick solution and the reality is that you may have to pay for it.

I definitely was not looking for a quick solution, as if you noticed, the time frame of these threads are not "quick" by no means. I have nothing left to say to you.. you can defend yourself in any way you want to continue. You call it more than "pay it forward" I disagree.

Thank you for your response.

Try copying the screen over from a used whom it works for. Also, stop being a dick jfuller.

that should have read, "try copying over the screenset from a user that you know it worked for" in Visual Menu builder. Also, stop being a dick. DGillz was trying to help you.
