Macola 7.6.XXX on Windows Vista

Good Afternoon,
Has anyone had any luck running Macola on Vista? I've installed it on Vista but get error 011 when starting Macola. I believe it has something to do with UNC vs mapped drive letters. Any ideas?

You should never use UNC with any version of Progression, you must use a mapped drive. This has been true since 7.5 and I cannot see this changing as it would require a change in the company table, where the drive letter is stored.

I don't know if this will work, Exact has zero info available on using Progression with Vista. They do say they are working on it.

I have successfully run Progression 7.6.300 on Vista for about a month.

Initially had problems with the BETA version of VISTA (to be expected). Could not get the SQL client to install.

With the release of Vista Business it runs like a champ. Must state though that this would currently fall under the category of "unsupported platform".

I don't have a clue on how to make Vista not use UNC instead of drive letter mapping. I had no problems on install the SQL and testing ok. I installed Macola and then installation went fine but when I try to run Macola I get the Error 011. And the error show the path as :\\server\macola\screens\syspass.btr but not the drive letter. Any idea on what I could do different or what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your help.

Don't you map a drive in my computer or windows explorer just like you do in w2k and xp? Then browse to the mapped drive to run the macola client install. Pervasive doesn't care if the drive is mapped or not, but macola won't run if you don't map to the share above your macola root directory.

Are you saying you cannot map a drive in Vista?

When we browsed out to the mapped drive and installed from there the UNC thing was not an issue. Much like progression now. If you run the install by browsing to \\servername\share\macola directory instead of s:\macola directory you will see this UNC problem even now in xp/2k.
