What is the process for performing a Client Reinstall (on a machine which already has the client installed) for Macola 7.6.400a?

I have found that if I browse to the M:\macsql\install folder and run setup.exe I get a message saying that it is running a Quick Update from 7.6.400 to 7.6.400a.

I actually want the client reinstalled over the top of the existing client but it appears that I can no longer do this with this version?

Thanks in advance.

OK, try this. Close Macola. Go to start, run, and browse to vmenu32.exe. If this fires, you should get a message that you need to be logged in as supervisor. Please confirm that you get that message.

Don, No I don't get that message when I go to start, run, and browse to vmenu32.exe at the problem site.

You mean it actually runs? Or you just never get the message?

I sm still waiting on your email so I can send you vmenu32.vb6.

Sorry for the confusion.

It doesn't actually run when I browse to the Vmenu32.exe

I don't get any message at the problem site.

I get maybe a second or two of hourglass and then nothing (same as when I try and run from within Macola)

Hey Don - The VBMENU32.VB6 file did the trick!

Thanks so much for your help.

(I guess it doesn't matter that it's an older version?)

Just one more question if I may.

Lets say for argument sake that the Macola client is not working on a particular PC for whatever reason.

In the past I used to just do a client install over the top and bingo - all was ok.

Now, when I attempt a client install on a PC that already has (or had) a client installed - It doesn't do a new complete install over the top of the old one if you know what I mean.

I get a dialogue saying "Running Quick Update 7.6.400 to 7.6.400a" or word to that effect. It then runs very quickly and another dialogue says "This system is now configured to run Progression 7.6.400 spA. No reboot is necessary". "(This system previously had the Progression 7.6.400 client installed requiring only minor updates for the 7.6.400 spA client, gretly reducing the time needed to perform the update.)"

I wanted to do a COMPLETE client install without having to rebuild the PC - This is something that I was able to do in the past.

What's the process for reinstalling a damaged client?

Should I unplug the network cable (so that it doesn't wipe out any files on the M:\ drive) and do an uninstall from Windows Add / Remove programs?

This is the new process. It is as full as it gets. They just simplified the process. There is no alternative that I am aware of.

Are you actually experiencing some sort of problem?

Don, No problem at the moment (touch wood) - we have a number of Citrix Servers (and lots of published applications) so I was just wondering what would be the process for getting the Macola client going again on a Citrix box without wiping out the entire box in order to do so.

I actually did a test on a PC running 7.6.400a Client where I deleted the contents of Program Files\Common Files\Macola Shared folder.

So now I don't have a functioning Macola Client on this box.

When I go and try and reinstall the Macola Client - I get the "Running Quick Update 7.6.400 to 7.6.400a" and the "This system is now configured to run Progression 7.6.400 spA. No reboot is necessary". "(This system previously had the Progression 7.6.400 client installed requiring only minor updates for the 7.6.400 spA client, greatly reducing the time needed to perform the update.)"

But of course the client is NOT reinstalled. I pretty sure that prior to 7.6.400 I would have been able to run setup.exe and the complete client would have been reinstalled.

You are correct that this process changed. I would report what happened to Exact tech support, this does pose a problem.

Newtrog,

Did you ever get this resolved?

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

To do a complete reinstall of 7.6.400a client, go to dos prompt \\macsql\install directory. Command is 'SETUP FULL'
Hope this helps

Apologies for not responding earlier Don - have been MIA for the past 3 weeks with limited access.

The above response by Jimvank is correct.

The command from a command prompt at the M:\macsql\install directory is 'SETUP FULL'.

Thanks all.

I just posted a full set of instructions on how to uninstall the progression client with the best success rate.

This is not difficult but you need to know thw steps and I have never seen it documented. Here is what I do to uninstall.
1. Go to the add remove programs from the control panel and remove the Futjitsu run time
2. Go to c:\program files\common files and delete these two directories. fujitsu and Macola Shared
3. Go to regedit and delete the keys for Fujitsu and Macola, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software
4. re-install the client.

This has worked for me in the past.
