I am running Mac 9.2.2 OS on my G4.
I recently got ATT DSL and I can not get to the internet for the life of me. I have a green DSL light and ATT confirmed it's working. I turned off Remote Access and have my TCP/IP setting for an ethernet connection using DHCP server in my control panel but it's still not letting me connect. What am I doing wrong?? Any other suggestions? Thanks!!!!

Many (all?) DSL offerings use PPoE or PPoA protocols, on PCs you can get software to handle the client end. For macs it is often easest to use a hardware router to do the PPoE or PPoA (you need to know which your ISP uses BEFORE you buy the router)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

I think jimbopalmer is on the right track. I think your problem is you do not any sort of authentication set up between you and AT&T. TCP/IP settings is just one part of the equation. PPPoE and PPPoA also require username/password authentication as well in order to connect. Did AT&T give you any software CD's with some sort of PPPoE client app? If not then ask them for one for Mac. Otherwise see if your Mac has some sort of PPP app that can work over Ethernet. As I am not too familiar with Macs I can't really help in that regard.

Thanks guys---I figured it out. For all those who are having the same problem, you need to upgrade to OS X. It solved all my problems!! The PPOE is what I needed and OS X came equipped with it so now I'm good to go!
