Macintosh 3400c Locked 1

HEy Guys;

I just got picked up a macintosh 3400c old powerbook that I was going to restore and donate to my nephew for a word processor. However, after it powers on it requires a password to access it. Being unfamliar with the Mac systems I have not been able to get passed it. If it was a windows I wouldnt have a problem but I just cant seem to figure anything out on the mac.

Can anyone help me get passed the password protect on an old 3400c powerpook?

With Macs running OS X, the operating system installer CD has a menu item for resetting the password. I don't know if the older releases had this ability.

If the password request comes up before the OS loads, then it is an 'Open Firmware' password that has been set (similar to a bios password on a PC) there is a short article on mSec on how to remove Open Firmware password protection
